In January 2014 our musical director, Kate Challinor-Moss (aka Queen Bee), and a small group of ladies from Chesterfield and North Derbyshire decided to form the Honey Belles.
Our choir works as a three part harmony – Altos, Mezzos and Sopranos. Our repertoire includes a wide variety of genres to suit all tastes, including musicals, 80s classics, songs the whole family can sing along to, modern pop and so much more.
We performed for the first time for the public at the May Day Carnival in Ashover in 2014. We have also performed at the Matlock Christmas Market, Chesterfield Artisan Market and more recently we had been asked to sing at The Winding Wheel for Chesterfield Ireland Colliary Bands concert.
Since that first performance we have outgrown our original practice venue at The Bassett Rooms in Ashover and now meet weekly at St Mary’s Primary School in Chesterfield. Our new venue has given us much more space to continue to grow and we are always looking for new people to join our choir.
As well as performing locally we have also held our own concerts to celebrate our favourite music and we hope to hold our fourth concert in June 2018. As well as the Honey Belles, our concerts also showcase solos from some of our talented choir members, as well as the Mini Belles – our children’s choir.
As a choir we also recorded our first CD together in 2015, featuring a selection of our favourite music that we have performed. In the spring of this year some of our soloists have also been back into the recording studio to record some of their best individual tracks as well as having our Concert Sweet Harmony 2016 recorded.
